Yesterday was a glorious day here on Cape Cod, so I thought I would take advantage of the wonderful weather and photograph some stock senics. Well low and behold while photographing on Buzzards Bay, I spotted the very reason the body of water got it's name!
Never seen one in the wild before and with a little Google search, it is actually called a Turkey Vulture and not a buzzard. But in America, the term is often employed incorrectly to describe vultures. This probably dates back to the arrival of the first English colonists. There are no vultures of any type in England, so these pioneers probably gave the common term "buzzard" to all the soaring figures above the New World.
Now you know!
We not only photograph beautiful wedding couples and cute children, but vultures too!
Enjoy!
